Google Nexus brand is known for providing high end device with latest Android OS and budget friendly price tag. Although rumors are swirling that Google will be closing Nexus brand. Google Nexus program is expected will be closed and Google will be releasing high end Smartphones under new Android Silver brand.
But one thing is sure that before closing this brand, Google will be releasing at least one Nexus tab and one flagship Nexus Smartphone, because when Google Android Head Sundar Pichai was asked about Nexus 6, he said Nexus 6 will be released in second half of 2014.
Google Nexus 6 is expected as last Nexus Smartphone, and device likely will be released in second half of the year. Although official release date of device yet to come but still we can infer release date from previous track record of Google releasing Nexus Smartphones. For last three years Google is introducing Nexus Smartphones in October. Surely it won't be surprise if we can safely assume October as launching month of Nexus 6.
We all know that Google always release its hardware devices with latest Software iteration, same is the case with Nexus 6, One thing is not sure either this will be Android 4.5 Lollipop (Nexus 8 is also expected with this update) or Android 5.0. In both cases one thing is sure and that Nexus 6 will be the first device having this OS on board.
Once again name of LG is swirling as maker of this device, and it seems LG and Google once again team up for this Nexus Smartphone. Nexus 4 was released as lightweight variant of LG's flagship Optimus G, while Nexus 5 was based on LG G2. Since last two Nexus Smartphones are based on LG's flagship devices, it seems this year Nexus 6 will be based on LG G3 (official revealing event is on 27th May).
Recently we have reports suggesting Google Nexus 6 will be the first Nexus Smartphone featuring finger print scanner, One thing is not sure where LG will be placing finger print scanner in Nexus 6. Either on home button like iPhone 5S or in slide to open option like Samsung GS5. On rear side finger print scanner is not easy to use, HTC introduced its One Max with finger print scanner on rear, it was proved hard to use.
As we discussed above, Nexus 6 is expected as lightweight variant of LG G3, so we can expect its specs will be similar to LG G3. LG recently launched LG ISA FL (LG G3 variant for Japan), let's have a look on these Specs so we can wrap up what to expect from Nexus 6.
LG Isai is featuring a 5.5 inch Quad HD display of 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. Quad core Snapdragon 801 processor is used in powering this device with 2GB of RAM. Rear camera of device is 13 MP. Device is packed with 3,000 mAh battery. Although LG G3 is coming with Qualcomm 801 chipset, Nexus 6 is expected with latest Snapdragon 805 processor, because Nexus devices always packed with most powerful Qualcomm chips. Snapdragon 805 is expected will be incorporated on the device which release is pegged for second half of this year.
Google is not biggest fan of releasing Smartphones with large displays, in Nexus 6 case a 5.2 inch display is expected with Quad HD screen resolution. Usually Nexus Smartphones didn't feature high end camera, and mostly Nexus devices camera are of average level, so there are very least of Nexus 6 with 13 MP camera.
