This year flagship Galaxy S5 was announced in February 2014, during the MWC event. Device was released in April. So far all reports are pointing Galaxy S6 launch in Feb 2015 with a release in end March but latest reports from Korean media is suggesting that Samsung will be making a drastic change as far as launch schedule of its Galaxy S series is concern.
Korean Media reports suggests Samsung is not only changing GS6 design but also will be launching device earlier than usual time span. Launch of GS6 according to media reports will be at CES 2015 event.
This report is published by Korean publication Chosun Biz, According to them analyst from MAS are calming that Samsung will be launching GS6 at CES which will be held in Las Vegas from Jan 6th to Jan 9th. Analysts further claim that Samsung will be releasing an edge variant too along with normal variant. This variant is expected with dual edge display.
Main reason behind this early release is Samsung wanted to get a head start against the competition from other Android manufacturers including Sony and HTC. Both HTC and Sony will be releasing their flagship variants in first quarter of 2015.
This year sales wise not a good year for Samsung that’s why they wanted to push their flagship a bit earlier so that they can compensate the poor sales of this year.
Samsung usually uses in-house developed components which helps Samsung to get higher profits. Gadget experts are predicting Samsung will be releasing 45 million Galaxy S6 units in next year and 10 million out of 45 will be Galaxy S6 edge variant.
