This year HTC’s flagship One M9 was the disappointment for the company from the first day, because of it's nearly same design like One M8 which leads to record low sales of HTC flagship. The One M9 low sales plunge the HTC’s stock to a record low level that’s why the company is selling its smartphone manufacturing units and also cutting jobs in order to help the tumbling economic situation.
Couple of weeks ago in a shareholder meeting HTC CEO announced that they will be releasing a new flagship Hero phone in this year which will help the company to cover up its losses of last quarters.
Today we have new info regarding the upcoming Hero smartphone. According to the latest leak, HTC is calling this device as HTC O2 and it will be having Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 on board. What we know so far is Snapdragon 820 is based on four custom ARM Hydra cores. The new chipset will be enhancing the performance of the device as well as battery life without getting hot like its predecessor.
The new HTC O2 phone will have an all-metal design. Initially device announcement was expected in 3rd quarter of this year but now having Snapdragon 820 as a processor, we can expect the announcement will be delayed till last quarter of 2015.
