Last year Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 faced issues of overheating that’s why Samsung instantly responded they won’t be using this SoC on their 2015 flagships, but instead Samsung devices will be powered by their own Exynos 7420.
After this decision from Samsung, it was speculated that Qualcomm and Samsung relations might put on rocky ground but this year for next year flagship Samsung planned to introduce nearly half GS7 variants running the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC. The new 14nm Snapdragon 820 chipset was manufactured by LPP process with the help of Samsung to enhance the power efficiency and performance of chipset.
This new phase of both giants relationship seems stronger than ever. According to the latest report on Weibo, the upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship will be the first commercial Smartphone being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset.
This piece of info is in the context where recently Xiaomi CEO mentioned that they are not in the race of announcing first Snapdragon 820 driven Smartphone whereas initially Xiaomi Mi5 was expected first device to have Snapdragon 820 on board.
As I mentioned above Samsung helped Qualcomm in building Snapdragon 820 that’s why it sounds right that Korean giant wants to integrate first this chipset on their upcoming flagship.
