As expected, Google will be announcing two smartphones this year. One of them will be Nexus Sailfish while second rumoured device is the Nexus Marlin. As per latest info and rumours, both the devices are being manufactured by HTC.
We can claim Marlin will be the successor variant of the Nexus 6P, thanks to its high-end specs sheet leaks via GeekBench. As per GeekBench listing, the Nexus Marlin will be having an AMOLED 5.5 inches display with quad HD screen resolution. The Qualcomm’s top of line Snapdragon 820 Soc is powering the device with 4GB of RAM and the base model internal storage is 32GB. The device rear camera is of 12MP while the front facing sensor is of 8MP. All aforementioned hardware specs are lighten up by a 3450mAh battery. The device display is slightly smaller than Nexus 6P which was packed with a 5.7 inches display.
Google recently announced that next Android 7.0 version firmware will be released Android Nougat. This also indicates that the final version release is around the corner alongside a new Nexus lineup. The GeekBench didn’t give us all details regarding the Nexus Marlin but it did confirm that device will be having Qualcomm’s quad-core Soc with a clocking speed of 1.59GHz.
Although GeekBench listing reconfirms the Nexus Marlin specs but we still have to take this info with a pinch of salt as nothing is set in stone. The Benchmark results can easily be faked, so we do have to wait few more weeks to authenticate the aforementioned info. There are chances HTC and Google are working on a number of prototypes so it could be one of them and might not release as final version. The final version of Nexus Marlin is expected in last week of August or in the first half of September 2016.
